1. Rock Out at Pleasantville Music Festival

Get ready for the 18th Annual Pleasantville Music Festival on July 13, 2024. This exciting event features a stellar lineup including Better Than Ezra, The Record Company, The Wailers, and Margaret Glaspy. Held at Parkway Field, the festival promises a day filled with great music, family activities, a zero-waste program, and a vibrant atmosphere. 2. Visit Rye Playland

A favorite Westchester attraction, Rye Playland, has opened its doors for the summer. Experience rides for all ages, including the Dragon Coaster and Ferris Wheel, and take a stroll along the famous Rye Boardwalk. If rides are not your thing, cool down at Playland's beachside pool.

3. Hike Teatown Lake Reservation

Explore 1,000 acres of nature with hiking trails, live concerts, and guided tours at the Teatown Lake Reservation. Trails are open daily from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year.

4. Explore Untermyer Gardens 

An unexpected gem in Westchester, Untermyer Gardens is a free garden space that you and your family can enjoy as you soak in the gorgeous landscape and grounds that were once owned by investor and lawyer, Samuel Untermyer. Over the summer, it holds 11 concerts in its amphitheater featuring dance performances, jazz, a gospel choir, and classical orchestral and vocal music. There are also plenty of other events, including painting and sunset yoga.

5. Stroll through Lasdon Park and Arboretum

Lasdon Park is a fantastic summer destination in Westchester County. The park features beautiful gardens, scenic walking trails, and a dinosaur exhibit that kids will love. Summer events include art festivals, concerts, and educational programs, making it a fun and engaging spot for families to explore nature and enjoy outdoor activities.

6. Explore the Westchester Children’s Museum

At the Westchester Children's Museum, your kids can discover interactive exhibits like the Toddler Beach and Wind Tunnel, plus weekend art and STEM projects. They offer several programs throughout the week, such as daily Story Time and Music & Movement.

7. Swing at Boundless Adventures

For adrenaline-pumping adventures, challenge yourself to 11 courses that will have you swinging, climbing, and zip-lining through the trees. Boundless is perfect for anyone in good health, ages 7 and up. ziplines, bridges, and leaps for ages 7 and up.

8. Watch Movies at Kensico Dam Plaza

Enjoy free outdoor screenings of family-friendly movies. This year it kicks off on July 13 with the screening of Elemental. Pre-movie entertainment will feature The Bubble Bus, providing interactive bubble magic, along with Grit on the Go, a mobile ninja warrior inspired obstacle course. Bring blankets, chairs, and snacks.

9. Cool Off at Local Pools

The Westchester County area is filled with dozens of public pools including some of our favorites: Saxon Woods Pool in White Plains, Sprain Ridge Pool in Yonkers, or other local pools. Fees apply. 

10. Sleep with Wolves 

If you and your family love camping and wolves, the Wolf Conservation Center is a top summer choice in Westchester. This is one really cool bucket list item you can do as a family while learning about why it’s important to save wolves, all while camping under the stars with the center’s 30+ wolves! The event also includes a pizza party, movies under the stars, fireside snacks, and tents.

11. Play at LEGOLAND Discovery Center

12. Support Local Farmers’ Markets

13. Spend the Day at Muscoot Farm

Enjoy a day with the beloved farm animals at Katonah’s Muscoot Farm. With tons of fun and educational programming and events, including its popular farmers’ market and art show on Sundays, you and your kids will love spending time at Muscoot Farm. Pack a lunch and have a picnic to enjoy at one of their many picnic tables.
