Chappaqua is a community of approximately 17,000 residents who enjoy the tree-lined streets and small-town vibe of this northern Westchester suburb. With its winding roads and woodsy setting, it is easy to forget that you are only 35 miles from midtown Manhattan. The community encompasses 24 square miles and includes the Town of New Castle and the hamlets of Chappaqua and Millwood. The quaint business district is home to restaurants, small shops, a Starbucks and a Gazebo where there are summer concerts. Chappaqua is known nationally for its excellent school system. 
 

Education

• The Chappaqua Central School District serves approximately 4000 students
• There are three elementary schools for grades K-4: Roaring Brook, Douglas G. Grafflin, and Westorchard.
• There are two middle schools for grades 5-8: Robert E. Bell and Seven Bridges.
• All students attend Horace Greeley High School for grades 9-12. Horace Greeley offers a rigorous, college prepatory curriculum, including 19 Advanced Placement courses. In addition to core subjects, the school also prides itself on its commitment to the fine and performing arts. Two-thirds of the student body participate in more than 85 clubs and organizations, publish two student newspapers, and play on 72 sports teams at all levels of competition.
• Bus transportation is provided to all public schools, as well as private and parochial schools. 
 

Transportation

• About 50-60 minutes from Chappaqua to Grand Central Station on the Metro North Harlem Line.
• Residents apply annually for parking permits near the Chappaqua station.
 

Recreation

• The Town of New Castle has numerous parks, playgrounds and playing fields. The 126 acre Gedney Park has a playground, ball fields, walking trails, a pond and a perfect hill for sledding. There are two public tennis courts at Millwood Park, and five lit courts at Horace Greeley High School.
• The New Castle Recreation & Parks Department not only maintains the 550-acre park system, but also runs over 150 recreation activities including youth athletic programs and adult sports programs. The Department offers numerous summer camps including a Tots Camp for ages 3-5, Camp Adventure for grades 1-4, and an On the Go Travel Camp for grades 5-8, as well as Sports Camps for ages 5-15.
• The Recreation & Parks department also runs the New Castle Art Center and the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center.
• The Chappaqua Public Library is a member of the Westchester Library System and hosts events for all ages. The Children’s Room has a ton of resources: special events include art, science and music programs, story-times, a Lego Club, family movies and much more.
• There are numerous family-friendly and affordable private swim and tennis clubs in the Chappaqua area, including: Birchwood Swim & Tennis, Chappaqua Swim & Tennis Club, Seven Bridges Field Club, and Willowbrook Swim and Tennis Club.
