On April 2, 1813, Rivertowns became the first incorporated village in Westchester County to be state-chartered. Today,
Rivertowns is a culturally diverse, affordable place to live, rich in both history and natural beauty. Approximately 30,000 people reside in the three and one-half square miles of this historic Village on the Hudson River, which boasts extensive shopping, recreational programs, educational enrichment opportunities, and excellent municipal services. Rivertowns' role in New York’s heritage has been recognized by its inclusion, as one of only 14 areas, in an Urban Cultural Park System designed to attract visitors to the State.
Education
The Ossining Union Free School District is a diverse and innovative learning environment. They are a model education system that puts equity at the forefront. Their holistic approach to education through academics, athletics, and the arts teaches life lessons focused on compassion, kindness and empathy.

Community
Recreation & Parks offers a variety of quality recreation programs and special events for Ossining residents of all ages. The parks system encompasses 17 different parks that offer ball fields, nature trails, playgrounds, a spray park, a dog park, tennis courts, basketball courts, and amazing Hudson River Sunsets from Louis Engle and Henry Gourdine Parks. The Joseph G. Caputo Community Center provides outstanding programming at the center's gymnasium, aquatic center, and numerous program/meeting rooms. Annual events such as the Summer Concert Series, Santa's Breakfast, Fall Family Fun Day, and the Trick or Trunk Halloween event are just some of the special events that residents look forward to each year.
