Welcome to Pelham
Pelham offers its 13,000 residents the best of both worlds: quiet tree-lined streets and excellent public schools, along with the opportunities that come with its location in the southeast corner of Westchester, where it is bordered on the south by New York City and on the east by the beautiful Long Island Sound. The Town of Pelham includes the Villages of Pelham and Pelham Manor. Residents love the small town feel and charming downtown, the convenience of shopping at the Fairway Market in Pelham Manor, and the easy commute.
Education
• The Pelham Union Free School District includes four neighborhood elementary schools (Colonial, Hutchinson, Prospect Hill and Siwanoy), the Pelham Middle School and the Pelham Memorial High School.
• Pelham Schools set high expectations for their students and are proud of their high achievement on state and national assessments and the high participation and passing rates in the many Advanced Placement classes offered at the High School.
• Nursery/pre-schools in Pelham include: The Huguenot Nursery School, The Montessori School in Pelham Manor and Junior Wonders Nursery School.
• Pelham Children’s Center, operated by a Pelham not-for-profit organization, operates a day care and preschool, and an after-school program at the Hutchinson Elementary School.
• The Playful Wonders After School Program provides after school care for elementary age students, from 3:00 – 6:00 pm and on early release days. Currently the program is located at the Siwanoy School. Transportation is provided from Pelham schools to the program location.
Transportation
• An easy commute on the Metro North Harlem line to Grand Central Station from Pelham Station. Approximate travel time is 32 minutes.
• Only 30 minutes by car to midtown Manhattan.
Recreation
• Pelham offers its residents a range of year-round recreational programs, in both the sports and the arts, some of which are offered by the Recreation Department, and others that are offered by not-for-profit organizations like Pelham Little League, Pelham Youth Hockey Association, Pelham Children’s Theater, Pelham Community Rowing Association and the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
• The Recreation Department Fields and Facilities include the Daronco Town House and Gazebo, Glover Park, which is home to multiple fields and tennis courts, and Ingalls Field and Franklin Field, which are adjacent to the High School. Fields and courts are available for use by the school and residents. Both the Pelham Youth Hockey Association and the school hockey teams have home ice at the nearby Ice Hutch, which also offers skate classes and a public skating schedule.
• Pelham residents may use the Westchester County park system, which includes five beaches, five 18-hole golf courses, five large swimming pools and thousands of acres for hiking and picnicking.
• Some residents choose to join Pelham Country Club, a family-oriented private club, located in Pelham Manor. The club has an 18-hole golf course, 11 tennis courts, a large pool, wading pool, playground, paddle courts, and yearround Fitness Center and vintage bowling lanes. The club has a popular summer camp for members only.
• The Kinetic Fitness Center, also located in Pelham Manor, is a full-service fitness and recreation center. The 50,000 square feet of amenities include a state of the art fitness center, full gym, indoor cycling, group fitness classes, a yoga studio, lap pool, kids aquatic center, indoor soccer fields, a basketball court and indoor playroom. The Club also offers sports program for both kids and adults.
