Welcome to Eastchester
The unincorporated hamlet of Eastchester, referred to simply as Eastchester, is within the Town of Eastchester, which also includes the incorporated Villages of Bronxville and Tuckahoe. Its approximately 20,000 residents enjoy the tranquility of manicured lawns and suburban living, yet live at most 20 miles north of New York City. Choose from single-family homes, townhouses or apartments, many of which are within walking distance of the commuter train. There are ample dining and shopping options in Eastchester itself, including the shops at the Vernon Hills Shopping Center on White Plains Road, which is anchored by Lord and Taylor.
Transportation
• Less than 20 miles from New York City.
• An easy commute on the Metro North Harlem line to Grand Central Station from Bronxville, Tuckahoe, Crestwood and Scarsdale train stations. Approximate travel time of 29-34 minutes by express train.
• Easy access to both the Bronx River and Hutchinson River Parkways for travel to points north and south.
Education
• Eastchester is served by the Eastchester Union Free School District.
• There are three neighborhood elementary schools for K-5: Waverly, Anne Hutchinson, and Greenvale School.
• All students attend Eastchester Middle School for grades 6-8 and Eastchester High School for grades 9-12. The high school enrolls approximately 930 students, and offers a strong academic program including 24 AP classes, an advanced science research class, and honors classes.
• Eastchester prides itself on having an active and involved parent community that organizes and runs PTAs at every school, the Eastchester Eagles Sports Club, the Eastchester School Foundation, and the Eastchester Music Boosters Club.
Recreation
• Residents of the Town of Eastchester may join the beautiful town-owned Lake Isle Country Club. Lake Isle is situated on over 110 acres and has an 18-hole golf course, 8 Har-Tru tennis courts, an extensive pool complex, with five swimming pools, and all the amenities of a private club, but at public recreation prices. The Family Fun Activities program includes events such as a Fourth of July Celebration, family entertainment nights, and teen pool parties. (Limited memberships are available to non-residents at higher prices.)
• The Town of Eastchester manages 9 major parks and 5 mini-parks; no matter where you live in Eastchester, there is a playground or playing field nearby. Facilities include the recently renovated Haindl Recreation Park, which features a professional quality turf field with lights and bleachers that can be used for football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and softball. Haindl Recreation Park also has a field house with bathrooms, concession stand, and a large recreation room that is used for meetings, parties, and Teen Scene game nights.
• The Recreation Department issues three seasonal brochures that list the many recreational opportunities available to residents of all ages. Highlights include an Eastchester Baseball League, Eastchester Little League, Eastchester Blue Devils Football, Cheerleading and Lacrosse, a Youth Soccer Association and an Eastchester Instructional Baseball League.
• The Town operates three day camps for residents from age 5 through 9th grade: Camp Rainbow for K-3 rd, Camp Galaxy for 1st-6th, and Camp Quest, an adventure travel camp, for grades 7th-9th.
• Eastchester is also home to Twin Lakes County Park, which is operated by Westchester County. This park has trails, wildlife, and a lake, as well as the Twin Lakes Farm equestrian center with boarding space and a riding academy that offers private and group lessons.
